15 kg heroin recovered from near India-Pakistan border

AMRITSAR: Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday recovered 15 kilogram heroin valued at around Rs 75 crore in the international market along with 1 desi Pak made pistol following the arrest of an Indian smuggler Bhupinder Singh from Dera Baba Nanak Sector.

BSF Inspector General (Frontier) Aditya Mishra informed that a BSF party spotted some movement near Borde Out Post Rosse in Dera Baba Nanak sector at around 9 AM on Thursday. Upon seeing the smugglers the BSF patrolling party challenged them following which they tried to escape but one of the smuggler was nabbed on the spot while two of his accomplice managed to escape.

The arrested smuggler was identified as Bhupinder Singh resident of Phakkiwan village falling under Kalanaur in Gurdaspur district while his accomplice Sukhdeep Singh and another unidentified person managed to escape taking benefit of layer of fog in the area. Besides contraband and weapon, BSF also recovered 2 magazine, 15 rounds and 1 mobile phone. On Tuesday BSF had recovered 10 kg heroin in Amritsar sector.
