India Air Force airlifts 150 stranded people in Kishtwar

JAMMU: Braving minus six-degree temperature and chilly winds, India Air Force (IAF) today came to the rescue and airlifted 150 stranded people, including women and children in snow-bound Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"IAF had airlifted 150 stranded people including women and children from various areas of Kishtwar district today", public relation officer (PRO), ministry of defence (MoD), S N Acharya said.

MI-17 chopper was pressed into service to ferry stranded passengers in highly snow-bound areas of Kishtwar, Nawapanchi, Sondar and Intion in several sorties, Acharya said.

The air operation was supervised by Air Commandore P Patangay and divisional commissioner Jammu Pradeep Gupta.
